It’s OK Until It’s Not OK

You are an unmarried father and you are in love and everything is great with the mother of your baby…until it isn’t. And then there are hard feelings. Arguments, fights about when you can see the baby. And then you find out that you have no legal rights. Really? Really. You have them, but you need to get the court’s attention and get some orders to get them written down so both parents know all the rules. Some fathers say they don’t need that piece of paper… and they might be right: until they aren’t. You might not need it until you do. You don’t want to get insurance after you wreck your car. Get it before you are in an accident. Get help knowing your rights as an unmarried father so you can have a Plan B for when Plan A is no longer OK.
