Individuals often come to us after trying to manage their case on their own or after experiencing a court disaster. Don’t let that happen to you because some mistakes can be very difficult and very expensive to fix. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you can handle your legal issues all on your own. There are plenty of websites that offer do-it-yourself forms and they try to make legal matters seem simple. Unfortunately, family law can be complex and not knowing all of the Arizona Family Law Rules and Procedures can have detrimental consequences. Even if you want to handle your matter on your own, consult with an attorney first and be confident that you understand the process and the law.
$200. The first step is a consultation. At the initial consultation we will learn the facts of your case and figure out your ideal outcome. From there we can decide on a plan of action that meets your needs and create a game plan tailored specifically for you.
That is entirely up to you. But, what you don’t know can hurt you. When you represent yourself you are held to the same standard as an attorney. The courts aren’t lenient with the rules. If something is filed incorrectly or deadlines are missed you’ll get no sympathy from the judge, just a quick lesson on the penalties for not meeting the standards of the legal system. Only you can decide what is the best option for you.
No. You can represent yourself and draft all the required documents on your own. All of the required forms are available on the Maricopa County Court’s website. We do not recommend doing it all alone, unless you have some familiarity with the legal process. But there are resources available, like The Divorce Coach book that can guide you through the process.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict the exact cost of a particular case. Without consulting with you, we do not have enough information about your particular case to know what needs to be done.
There are many factors that affect the total cost. The cost depends on the parties’ and their attorneys’ willingness to be reasonable. Regrettably, in family law, sometimes reason, compromise and civility are in short supply. As a result, cases can quickly become complex and costly. We try to avoid lengthy litigation at all costs, but we will always work on your behalf for the best possible outcome.
Unfortunately we do not offer free consultations. Because information discussed during a consultation is sensitive by nature, any legal advice we provide must adhere to the Arizona Family Law Rules and Procedures. As such, in order to protect your privacy and our ethical obligations to you, we charge a fee for our time and expertise.
It depends. We know that isn’t the answer you want to hear, but it’s the truth. By law, the absolute soonest you can be divorced is 90 days from when the Petition for Divorce is filed and served to the opposing party. Other matters may take less time or they make take more time. In our experience the average divorce process from start to finish lasts about 8 months. But, the less adversarial the two parties are, the quicker your matter will be completed.
Yes. Mediation is one of the fastest, most cost effective ways to get divorced. Mediation can resolve all of the issues in as little as one day. Mediation also costs about 5-6 times less than traditional divorce. Go to our Mediation Page to learn more.
Schedule your consultation and meet with our team to create a customized game plan and move forward confidently.
