October was Domestic Violence Awareness month. It’s a good idea to focus on such a devastating and widespread dysfunction in our families and relationships that crosses all boundaries of race, finance, geography, education, status, job, or any other segregating parameter. But just because the month of awareness is over, does not mean that domestic violence is over. It is epidemic and widespread, damaging and sometimes fatal. The collateral damage to families and children leaves a life long legacy. But you are not alone, it is not your fault, and there is help for you. All you have to do is reach out and decide you no longer want to live like that. It is not easy. But is is worth it.
